Statement on Chairman Wheeler’s Net Neutrality Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Internet Association’s President and CEO Michael Beckerman issued the following statement on Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Tom Wheeler’s proposal to reinstate net neutrality protections after they were struck down by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit earlier this year:

“The Internet Association supports enforceable Open Internet rules to ensure that the Internet remains open and free from discriminatory or anticompetitive actions by broadband gatekeepers. We look forward to working with Chairman Wheeler and his fellow commissioners at the FCC to ensure that the Internet remains a vibrant platform for consumer choice and economic growth. Our policies have historically recognized the difference between broadband gatekeepers and Internet applications, and future innovation depends on maintaining that approach.”
